This seminar is part of CASI 2nd Annual Accessibility Codes & Standards Summit, October 11-12, 2018

Please join us for a special two-day event designed for expert-level CASp and building officials, architects and inspectors, to learn Accessibility Codes and Standards. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to obtain information directly from National Level (ADA specific) and California (CBC-specific) industry experts.

DESCRIPTION

ADA and other accessibility regulations have been around for well over 25 years, yet we still see items of non-compliance even in new construction. Is this due to a lack of knowledge, or incomplete drawings and specifications, or sloppy construction, or is it that the topic has become so complex that it is difficult to synthesize all of the relevant information? And many of the items are indeed extremely technical yet the solutions need to be incorporated at the early non-technical design stages. This presentation will look at many common items in non-compliance often found in new construction and alterations. Learn thru a visual synthesis of photos with pertinent regulation call-outs of numerous existing installations. We will discuss what went wrong, was missing, or misunderstood, in order to recognize Access issues to be on the look-out for whether in drawings or out in the field.

Testimonials

“Thank you. I sat in during the seminar and it was fantastic. The sound was clear and you re-asked the questions so the webinar folks understood. The back and forth with the audience was lively but to the point. I just wanted to send a note and thank you again – your draw is huge, expertise on point, and I can’t thank you enough.”

– Eric Sifuentes, CASp, Nacht & Lewis

“I have always enjoyed and been highly interested in your publications and seminars over the years. Your publications are required reading by all my staff and are a given contribution to the success of our designs.”

– Craig R. Smith AIA, CRSA Architecture

“Janis is our go-to person whenever issues requiring interpretation of CBC/ADA arise. She is knowledgable, thorough and being an architect herself helps her better understand the challenges we face implementing the ever more detailed accessibility requirements.”

–Ron Bernhardt, AIA Retail Design Collaborative

I’ve found that the seminars and webinars that Stepping Thru Accessibility offers are the most comprehensive and of the highest quality available. I have always gained very useful and practical information on a wide range of accessibility topics with Janis’s seminars/webinars; highly recommended for anyone with an interest in accessibility.
